Celebrate
your fellow Americans of every stripe who salvaged their spirit and
creativity by exquisitely expressing themselves with salvaged: wood,
bottle caps, corrugated cardboard, roofing tin, paints made from dirt,
sugar and weeds, tin ductwork (and sometimes even clay, paper and
canvas.) These artists transformed castoffs of contemporary society
into cherished works of contemporary folk art. They're now part of
the Smithsonian Art Museum's "Treasures To Go" exhibit currently on
national tour through 2002.
