A Heritage In Iron
Rafael Routson

In the last
30 years, there has been a renaissance in the skill and art of shaping
hot iron. This renaissance was led by individuals such as Francis
Whittaker and Alex Bealer whose dedication to the craft inspired
many to learn the art and techniques of blacksmithing. Vince Kontny
is the owner of the three ranches displayed in this beautiful full
color book. He purchased his first two ranches with the sole idea
to preserve the heritage of the Old West. He did this with the help
of Francis Whittaker and his blacksmith students. Once restored,
both ranches were protected in perpetuity with conservation. Dashwood
House was then built relying on blacksmiths to forge hinges, latches,
and other ironwork like the first two ranches. The products of this
association are documented in this book.
